Interfaith Advocacy Day
Concerned members of Washington churches of all Protestant denominations, working through the “Faith Action Network” (successor to the Washington Association of Churches), have scheduled February 14 – Valentine’s Day, by coincidence – as this year’s “Interfaith Advocacy Day” in Olympia. On that occasion, accompanied by folks from mosques and synagogues, we will meet with our State Legislators and urge support for programs that help people in need and prevent degradation of the physical environment God has blessed us with. The theme: “Uniting Hearts and Minds: Raising Revenue for the Common Good.” A continental breakfast and light lunch are included in the program cost; register at www.fanwa.org.
To minimize the number of individual cars going back and forth, the event sponsors are seeking to identify churches that have a van they might make available for transportation to and from Olympia’s capitol complex on that Tuesday. If you have such a vehicle, with or without a church-member driver, please contact Dean Fournier of Presbytery’s Social Justice and Peacemaking Ministry Team, at dean48@comcast.net or (206)364-4539.
