I was Pastor of the Little Church on the Prairie in Lakewood from 1970-1988 and 1/2, and an interim at Sumner, et. al. so have always had an interest in Olympia Presbytery. Further, I have been in camping ministry for many years, and like you, I am very enthusiastic about its impact. In fact, I was on the Board and helped locate and build Camp Wyoming in Iowa (1960-1970). It has become quite an institution. I am disappointed now that our Seattle Presbytery does not have our Camp any longer, but we are fortunate to be friends with you down there, and to have you so close. My Church Camping, and other Camping days are over. I have done a signficant logging of travel hours and ministry since my retirement from Parish work--in New Zealand, Indonesia, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and last in Malawi Africa. Now all I can do is enjoy the memories. I also write books. I am now waiting for my 4th one to come from the Publishers. Sound View Camp is fortunate to have a person with your maturity and experience. May our Lord bless your calling. Peace...Vernon G. I hope and pray for your rapid and complete recovery from you accident. I learned to ski at the age of 50 whenwe moved to Lakewood (from Iowa) and I was Pastor of The Little Church on the Prairie. I became an addict, but never a serious victiim. Clumsy as I was, I felt so fortunate. During the two years we lived in New Zealand (in my 70's), I skied weekly at Mt. Hutt, and again had an accident-free record. By that time I had arrived at the age when Crystal issued Senior Discounts,, and after a very persusive and "shaming" correspondence with the Mt. Hutt Operators, I had arrived at inexpensive skiing. At age 84 I have decided that it is no longer advisable to tempt God to send angels to keep me from smashing my bones against a stone. (Ps. 91:12.) You probably won't get back to the slopes before next season. Don't give up on healing completely and returning to the sport, unless you feel you have had enough. One of my Crystal buddies was an 80 plus PC(USA) Clergy. He maybe did 1 or 2 runs with me in the morning, and the same in the afternoon, and the rest of the day he enjoyed lodge hours visiting with other "resting" afficionados. Peace, Vernon G. Elgin (HR).

claudia m rowe comments on Prayer Request for Rev. That was the phrase on the home page. Course it immediately settled in my mind into a bit of information about a piece of presbytery communication. But this week the lectionary has us in Spirit beginnings from creation to Jesus' baptism to some left out folks in Acts. Wonder if that line will end up in my sermon? seems somewhat inevitable now...

Dave Hackett comments on Prayer Request for Rev. We have shifted into a new age. There are so many ways to benefit from technology in our day.
