November 5-7, 2010 in Olympia, Washington
Andrew Kang Bartlett will be representing the Presbyterian Hunger Program and would love to have other Presbyterians come. Please join him at this annual gathering - and/or for one or both of the public events.
The Presbyterian Church USA has been at the forefront in the struggle for dignified conditions and fair wages for people making apparel often in deplorable and dangerous factories. We have been proactive in supporting non-sweatshop purchasing -- collectively purchasing tens of thousands of Sweat-Free T-shirts over the past several years from the Fair Trade Zone cooperative in Nicaragua - and we expressed our support for the work of Sweatfree Consortium at the 2008 General Assembly in the Responsible Purchasing recommendations. At the conference, we will also debut the Presbyterian Just Purchasing: Practicing Our Faith at the Market, a guide to sweatfree purchasing for congregations, camps, conference centers and individuals. Here is PDF of the guide, which was produced by the Presbytery of Baltimore and the Hunger Program.
