Thai Dance and Drama Performance coming to Inglewood PC on Palm Sunday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m.
Inglewood Presbyterian will have a very special opportunity to observe world mission up close and personal. IPC has been invited to host a Presbyterian mission team from Thailand on Palm Sunday evening, April 17. It is the CCI Thai Dance and Drama Tour. They will perform a series of beautiful Thai dances and show how they use drama to share their faith. Inglewood welcomes members of other churches to attend.
CCI is the Christian Communications Institute of Payap University, a Christian university of the Church of Christ in Thailand. Leading the tour are a Presbyterian missionary couple, the Rev. Rob Collins and the Rev. Dr. Esther Wakeman coming with a group of young Thai musicians and actors. They were all featured in my film "Discovery in Thailand."
I'm excited by this visit as we catch a close up view of their ministry in this far away land. They will be showing us how they use music and drama to witness to their faith. It's very effective.
These missionaries have been sent and are supported by Presbyterian World Mission, our denominational mission agency. I'm aware that it is more difficult to promote our denominational mission causes. They serve far away and often we don't know much about their ministry. So this visit will be a revelation and an inspiration for us.
Presbyterian World Mission publishes "Mission Crossroads," a very visual quarterly magazine that tells the exciting story of our denomination's mission outreach and introduces you to many of the missionaries and where they are serving. They, PWM, are "committed to sending mission personnel, empowering the global church, and equipping the PC(USA) for mission."
Rob and Esther's ministry in Thailand has been featured in the Film, "Discovery in Thailand." It is a valuable portrayal of our mission efforts in that land of grace and beauty. It also features two other missionary couples and a Thai pastor who shares insight in their witness in a land that is 95% Buddhist. The film also visualizes the creative ministry of the CCI Thai Dance and Drama team.
DVD copies of "Discovery in Thailand" are available for a donation of $30.00 to ARB Mission Media, 12408 86th PL NE, Kirkland, WA 98034. Or call Graley 425-820-4523.
