Developing Gifts, Refining Skills
You are invited to join your fellow preachers in a two-day seminar that will help you reflect on the preaching craft and ponder in a focused way a few key skills that nourish excellent preaching. In this seminar we will have many great opportunities to talk with one another about our shared task of proclaiming God’s Word each week. We will also consider topics like:
- Nurturing Vividness in Preaching
- The Theory and Use of Sermon Illustrations
- Pondering the “Four Pages” Method of Sermon Design
- Application in Preaching
- Preaching as Proclamation
Rev. Scott Hoezee, Director of the Center for Excellence in Preaching at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, will lead the Oasis. Thanks to the generous underwriting of the Center and its sponsors, seminar participants will enjoy the seminar itself as well as being treated to a continental breakfast both days, lunch both days, and a lovely dinner out at a Seattle restaurant on the first evening. The seminar will run from 9:00- 4:30 on the first day and from about 9:00-3:00 on the second day.
We hope you will join us May 23 & 24, 2011 in Seattle. To register or for more details, please contact Rev. Karen Breckenridge at (206) 525-8787 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
