The Lecture Series of University Congregational United Church of Christ presents John J. Thatamanil, "Eucharist Upstairs, Yoga Downstairs: Multiple Religious Participation as Problem and Promise," on Sunday, May 15th at 7 p.m. at University Congregational UCC, 4515 16th Ave. NE, Seattle 98105.
John J. Thatamanil was formerly an Assistant Professor of Theology at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, TN. He will be an Associate Professor of Theology and World Religions at Union Theological Seminary beginning in the Fall of 2011. His areas of research include comparative theology and theologies of religious pluralism. Dr. Thatmanil writes on Hindu-Christian Dialogue and Buddhist-Christian Dialogue. His first book on Hindu-Christian dialogue is The Immanent Divine: God, Creation and the Human Predicament. Dr. Thatamanil teaches on inter-religious dialogue and writes on "open inclusivity" as he works to build bridges of understanding and appreciation between Christianity and other religious traditions.
