Evangelism Sunday Sept. 25, 2011
We think most people would agree that evangelism isn’t a one-day a year event. Setting aside a specific day does however encourage us to focus attention on what we have done in the past year and on what we expect to be doing in the coming year.
Once again Louisville has provided us with an excellent evangelism resource, found here. It can be used in many ways and can be a jumping off point tailored to suit the culture of a specific congregation.
Here are some other activities that might be considered in conjunction with Evangelism Sunday:
-Make Sept. 25th “Bring a Friend to Church Sunday”. As September is when Sunday/Church School begins again for the year it’s a good time for adults, children and teens to invite friends to join them to see what going to their church is like.
-Adopt a missionary through The Antioch Partners (TAP). http://theantiochpartners.org “TAP is a strategic alliance of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship and The Outreach Foundation, two validated mission support groups of the PC(USA). As a shared ministry of these two founding organizations, TAP works collaboratively with the PC(USA), and partners with local churches in the US, as well as with a broad spectrum of global partners.”
-Begin a prayer group to pray for evangelism in the congregation and in the world. They might meet on Sundays before or after worship or perhaps have a phone or email prayer chain so that many people can be included.
Blessings on your efforts to share the love of Jesus,
Your Evangelism Ministry Team
