The Presbyterian AIDS Network (PAN), one of the 10 social justice networks of the Presbyterian Health, Education & Welfare Association (PHEWA), part of the Compassion, Peace and Justice ministry of the General Assembly Mission Council, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) has awarded Mercer Island Presbyterian Church with the Faith in Action Award.
The Faith in Action Award recognizes a PC(USA) congregation that, through its prayerful actions and through its ministry, calls its faith into action by walking alongside sisters and brothers who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. The selected congregation is one that has responded to the HIV/AIDS pandemic by initiating or supporting activities within the United States in meaningful and lasting ways.
“Your truly prophetic work and witness shows God’s unconditional love for all people and we are most pleased to lift up your story at General Assembly this year,” wrote Bob Schminkey, PAN Moderator.
A representative from MIPC will be in attendance at General Assembly in Pittsburgh to receive the award.
