Objectives

The primary objective of the position is to drive progress toward this congregational Strategic Plan goal:

·       To engage members of our community, within and beyond Our Redeemer’s, in shared service and relationships through social justice ministry

The position will also contribute to the following Strategic Plan goals:

·       Transformational spiritual experiences that change lives

·       Deepening our experience of community, and widening the circle of members and partners in relationship with us 

Qualifications

·       Demonstrated success in social justice outreach development and oversight; preference will be given to candidates with experience working on issues of housing/homelessness and care for creation/sustainability

·       Excellent networker and bridge builder, with a history of connecting people to each other and to ministries meaningful to them

·       Experience recruiting, empowering, coordinating and appreciating volunteers in a volunteer-powered organization

·       Demonstrated strong organizational skills, with the ability to see the big picture while ensuring that details do not “fall through the cracks”

·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent knowledge/experience

·       Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability

The Director of Community Outreach leads the Community Outreach (CO) ministry by 1) championing congregational engagement in local mission on the Eastside and greater King County, 2) equipping congregational leadership of the CO ministry, and 3) managing BelPres’ relationships with CO teams and mission partners. The Director brings expertise in local mission and ensures alignment with the mission vision of Bellevue Presbyterian Church (BelPres) to partner with Jesus to revive BelPres, the Eastside, and beyond.

Qualifications:

  • Personal commitment to and relationship with God through Jesus Christ; experience working with youth, parents and other adults. Effective administrator and organizer; passionate communicator of the gospel with good knowledge of the Scriptures. Must be willing to work within the theological realm of the Presbyterian Church(USA)

  • Demonstrate a comfort level and relational ability to work with youth and adults

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

    Job Description:

  • Full time (40 hours a week), with emphasis on maintaining and building ministry and programs for both youth and adults

  • Direct and oversee weekly youth group meetings and coordinate small groups (Wednesday evenings), maintain and recruit volunteer youth leaders, coordinate and plan other youth activities, camps, and service opportunities

  • Develop relationships with youth, investing in discipleship relationships

  • Support and expand current program for middle adults – focused on life together, spiritual growth and mission outreach

  • Encourage younger adults and provide ministry and program as needed

We are a progressive, neighborhood, quirky, micro-church, with 22 Children & Youth from 1.5 to 18 years old. We have a long standing commitment to our kids to build their Christian faith in developmentally appropriate ways. We use Godly Play and create mission opportunities for all ages.

We are looking for a colleague who can collaborate with the pastor and the Assistant Director of Children & Youth. We want someone with imagination, initiative, deep faith and an ability to step back and laugh. We love organized teaching plans and flexibility. There is a Children's time in worship every week, too. We expect clear communication and will offer unqualified support.
