SUMMARY:

The Communications and Office Administrator will direct our church communications strategy using a variety of tools to communicate to our church family and broader community about the worship, life, and mission of our church. He or she will also provide administrative support, serving as a welcoming presence to all those who contact our church, responding to them in a gracious, responsible, and caring manner.

As a church community, Southminster is marked by our love for Jesus, each other, and those we serve. We are a generous congregation with a strong sense of community. The Communications and Office Administrator will work with our small pastoral staff team and our volunteer Session (or board of elders). We value creative problem solving, attention to detail, and a gracious spirit!

Compensation Category: hourly
Weekly Hours: 16
Normal Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Pay: $15-$20 per hour depending on experience
Benefits: Paid personal time off 32 hours (2 weeks) per year; plus 4 paid holidays
            (Christmas, New Year’s Day, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving)

General Job Description

The Operations Director is responsible for adhering to the mission of the ministry by working closely with and reporting to the Executive Director(s) in carrying out the organization’s strategic vision. Their primary responsibility is to oversee and maintain day-to-day operations and event planning.

Strategic Vision

The Operations Director works with the Executive Director(s) to identify the goals, strategies, and tactics needed for growth of ministry programs and, operational support including coordination and management of events (e.g., sponsored ministry offerings and special events).  They will provide oversight for the implementation of these strategies.  Work with the Executive Director(s) in the annual budget development process.

Preschool Lead Teacher - John Knox Community Preschool

Our faith-based preschool, serving the Burien/Normandy Park/ Des Moines area, is looking for a morning Threes Lead Teacher. Applicants should be certified, have at least two years previous experience in Early Learning Education in a preschool setting.

Candidates will be required to pass a national background check, have or obtain CPR and first-aid certificate before September 1st. Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds. Fluent verbal and written English skills is a must.

As a Christian preschool, teachers are expected to model and teach Christian values.

A passion for the spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual wellbeing of children is paramount. We are looking for a Lead Teacher who is creative, patient, nurturing, has the ability to correct with love, and will become a part of our fun staff family.
