10/5: Planning a Pastor's Retirement Webinar

Church Tax & Law Featured Resource: "Planning a Pastor's Retirement" Webinar

Retirement planning is complex. Chief among the reasons for this complexity are the many rules and regulations involved. And the unique tax status of pastors, in addition to the general tax rules affecting churches, only add to that complexity when it comes to retirement-related decisions.

Sadly, many in ministry don't deal directly with this topic, complexities and all, until it's too late. One in five pastors do not save anything toward retirement—and for those who do, the amounts aren't nearly enough. It's crucial for pastors and boards to start thinking now about this topic, and obtaining trustworthy information to do that is the first step. That is why I'm thrilled to announce two upcoming resources designed to meet that need.

The first is "Planning a Pastor's Retirement," a free webinar presented by attorney Richard Hammar at 11 a.m. (Central)/12 p.m. (Eastern) on Thursday, October 5. During this one-hour presentation, Rich will provide critical information related to pastoral retirement planning, church plans, deferred compensation plans, tax-sheltered annuities (such as 403(b) plans and IRAs), and housing allowances. Then, a few weeks later, our November/December issue of Church Law & Tax Report comes out, featuring articles by Rich and other attorneys who delve even deeper into this critical subject.

The task of retirement planning isn't impossible. Good planning and decision-making, coupled with diligence and patience, can make a difference for all pastors, regardless of their career stage. Take this opportunity to prioritize it by signing up today!
