The Church Council is hosting a Multi-faith Convening this coming Monday, November 3 from 6:30-8:00 PM to prepare people of faith to support our migrant neighbors in the possibility of federal overreach. We recognize that this invitation is short-notice, but we'd love to invite the Presbytery to join us! Our partners from Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice, Washington Immigrant Justice Network (WAISN), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA), Faith Action Network, and Intercommunity Peace & Justice Center are co-sponsoring. Here is the full description, and the flyer is attached:
Faith-based organizations across WA state are preparing for a potential federal deployment of troops to our cities, increased ICE presence, and other fear tactics. We are grounded in the hope that through our collective efforts we can practice deep solidarity with our migrant neighbors.
Join the Church Council of Greater Seattle, Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice (JCIJ), Washington Immigrant Justice Network (WAISN), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA), Faith Action Network (FAN), and Intercommunity Peace & Justice Center (IPJC) for a Multi-faith Convening: Migrant Solidarity on Monday, November 3 from 6:30-8:00 PM in Seattle (Doors open at 6:00, location shared with registration). We know from our partners in other states the vital role people of faith have played to resist the federal government’s overreach and support our migrant neighbors. During this convening, we will share various ways people of faith and conscience can show up to support migrant community members now, and how to get plugged in if / when there is federal escalation. RSVP at bit.ly/multifaith-convening.
