Colombia earthquake relief

Dear friends, 

As you may have heard, Colombia experienced a 7.4 earthquake Monday morning (August 10th). At this point, over 130 people have lost their lives and countless more are unaccounted for. The earthquake was centered about 120 miles outside of Bogotá, so according to our sister presbytery in Barranquilla, there is no damage in the North Coast presbytery. There is however significant damage in the other two presbyteries that cover Bogota (Central) and Medellin (Urabá).  

The Presbyterian Church of Colombia (IPC) has mobilized to provide relief and resources to communities hardest impacted by the quake. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has also deployed assistance through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). Our ministry partners in the IPC have asked we make any contributions to them through PDA. Please make sure to designate your donation for Colombian Earthquake Relief. 

In the meantime, please keep the people of Colombia in your prayers. As the death toll rises and resources are stretched beyond their limits, our siblings in Christ need to be reminded they do not stand alone in these terrible times. May God grant them, and all those who are experiencing loss in these natural disasters around the world the strength and courage in the recovery and rebuilding stages, and comfort and solidarity in their grief.
