NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR GENERAL ASSEMBLY 227 COMMISSIONERS

Greetings from the Stated Clerk’s Office:

The 227th General Assembly (GA 227) will commence next year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The following is information that applies to nominating commissioners to serve the Seattle Presbytery at GA 227.

Deadlines: 

October 6, 2025. Nominations are due to the Stated Clerk via email no later than for distribution to the presbytery for consideration.

October 21, 2025. Commissioners will be elected at the presbytery meeting. Nominees must be present at the meeting and available to answer questions prior to election.

Process:

The Seattle Presbytery is entitled to a total of four commissioners. Two of these need to be Teaching Elders, and Two need to be Ruling Elders. We are also entitled to a Young Adult Advisory Delegate (YAAD). GA 227 – Commissioners’ Commit to:

Nominees must  commit to the following MANDATORY elements: Online meetings, travel to Milwaukee, and in-person attendance for the duration of the plenary sessions in Milwaukee (This includes YAADs also).

The 227th General Assembly (2026) docket begins with committee meetings conducted online, followed by in-person plenary sessions held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

June 22 – 24: Assembly committee meetings, conducted online using Zoom and MyGA. Most commissioners and advisory delegates will participate remotely from their home, office, or another location with reliable internet service.

June 25 & 26: Travel days for most commissioners and advisory delegates. 

June 27: Community Day, to include opportunities for worship and engagement with an issue of concern to Milwaukee-area Presbyterians; luncheons for assembly committee members; an opportunity to connect with PCUSA agencies and organizations and access resources; and a welcome reception. 

June 28: Morning: Worship and lunch with Milwaukee area congregations.

June 28 – July 2: Plenary business meetings, held in person at the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Commissioners and advisory delegates must be present in person in the plenary hall to participate. There will not be an option to join the deliberations or vote remotely.

We will provide more information in the coming months as it becomes available from the national office. Travel, lodging, and per diem expenses are covered for all serving Commissioners.
