Purpose

The purpose of the Choir Director position is to develop, organize, maintain and support a choir program that will support our worship services and to mentor the volunteers who serve in the choir and other music programs. The goal of the program is to guide volunteers to lead our congregation in worship of God on a regular basis.

CHURCH ORGANIST – PART-TIME

We seek to faithfully follow Jesus Christ in the 21st century, pursuing vibrant worship, spiritual formation, and service to others. Ministries to children and youth are of paramount importance to our PCUSA community. Today we are a vital community of approximately 200 members and friends. At Redmond Presbyterian (RPC), we want each person to know they matter to God and to us.

Responsibilities:

·       Provide organ and piano music for all worship services and other church functions

·       Accompany church choir during weekly rehearsal (beginning in September)

·       Work closely with the Director of Traditional Music to encourage musical participation from members of the congregation through presentation of hymns 

Qualifications:

·       Display a proficient and professional level of musical talent from training and experience

·       Capable of communicating in a friendly and concise manner with Pastor, church choir, praise team, and members of the congregation

·       Dependable and consistent in attendance, with a devotion to music

Salary/Benefits: Compensation is commensurate upon experience. Working hours will average 6 – 8 hours per week, with an expectation of flexibility to accommodate seasonal variations. Final work schedule must be negotiated with Pastor.

The Session of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church is searching for a person to fill the role of their Director of Christian Education. In this role we seek someone who does not so much see her/his role as being the director of a program but the facilitator of the relationships which provide a context for the spiritual formation of our children and youth (birth to 17). The person we are looking for to fill this role is a disciple of Jesus who feels called to a ministry of the spiritual formation of children and the encouragement of their parents as they take primary responsibility for showing their children what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

Summary

The primary job of the Director of Christian Education is to mobilize the people of Emmanuel for the work of fulfilling their baptismal promise to the children and youth of the church (birth to 17) to “guide and nurture them by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging them to know and follow Jesus Christ.”

The primary tasks for this position include administrative support, programmatic oversight, database and calendar set up and maintenance, and working with volunteers. In addition, the Minister for Community Life interfaces with vendors, supports church staff and parishioners, provides welcome and hospitality to weekday visitors, and performs general office management tasks. Knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel; Online People database (Realm) and Website Content Management preferred. This is an hourly position, paid at $19.50-$22.00/hour, depending on experience. Benefits include three weeks’ paid vacation, and pension in line with the Policy of the Diocese of Olympia.
