Chapel at Newport Presbyterian Church
Christian monastics and mystics through the ages have described and practiced a contemplative relationship with God that takes place in silence deeper than words. Centering Prayer is the name of a modern form of this practice.
Come learn about Centering Prayer at an introductory workshop. Presenters Carolyn Wyman and Nancy Gale from Contemplative Outreach Northwest will cover the basics of the Centering Prayer method and review the context of the practice in the Christian tradition, and we will spend time praying. You will have ample opportunities to share your own experience, to ask questions, and to explore where to go from here. Even if you are a seasoned Centering Prayer practitioner, this promises to be an enriching and grace-filled experience. And what a wonderful way to start the New Year and jump-start your Lenten spiritual journey.
We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end promptly at 1:30 p.m., with a short lunch break. Please bring a bag lunch and something to share if you are able. Coffee and tea will be offered beginning at 8:30 a.m. A donation of up to $20 will be requested at the door, but is not necessary for attendance. All are welcome.
