STATED PRESBYTERY MEETING
TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2019
5:00PM: MEETING BEGINS
VASHON PC, 17708 VASHON HWY SW, VASHON, WA 98070
Summer ferry schedule (Fauntleroy to Vashon) is available online. We highly recommend catching a ferry before 2:30 pm before longer lines begin forming at Fauntleroy in West Seattle. Average wait time is one hour starting around 3:30 pm. Boats leaving Vashon in the evening hours have little to zero wait time and the ferry dock is approximately 8 minutes from the church.

Welcome message from Rev. Leigh Weber, on behalf of Vashon PC:
Coming to Presbytery? Need a mini-vacation? We’ve got you covered!!
Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the 16th, VPC will be staffing a welcome table at the church. Elders will be available to provide you with ideas as well as maps and directions to hiking trails, restful beaches and a variety of sites around the island. Camp Colvos Brew Pub, which shares a parking lot with the church, will be open 1 – 5 pm for Presbytery guests and friends only. It’s the site of our own monthly Theology Pub. They feature a limited lunch menu and excellent island created micro-brews.
There are a variety of new restaurants since last year’s meeting for you to check out as well and, again, elders and members will be available to answer questions and make suggestions. You are also able to check your stuff in at the church if that lightens your load for the day. We’ll be in the building all day with snacks and lemonade to keep you going if you decide to set out on foot.
The Vashon Historical Museum display for this summer is entitled “In and Out” and is a history of LGBTQIA on the island and in the area. They will be open for Presbytery members and friends only starting at 1 pm. The museum is within walking distance of the church as well. The Ice Creamery is directly across the street from the church and is a must visit place for hot summer days. (We highly recommend their ice cream!)
Palouse Winery will offer a mid afternoon tasting beginning at 2:00pm. If that might be something you’d like to try, email PastorLeigh@comcast.net and we will work out the details for you.
Vashon offers a wide variety of places to explore and unique shops and parks that make it a perfect mini getaway for your summer. Maps and the Vashon Destination Guide will be available at the church to guide you through your afternoon of exploring.
We look forward to hosting you all. As one of our elders said, “The extended relatives are coming to visit!” Know that you are welcome!!
Grace and Peace from VPC!
Leigh Weber
Dinner Table Discussion with Pierre Rasha Houssney
You’re invited to join the following scheduled dinner table discussion at the July Presbytery meeting:
Pierre Rashad Houssney, MENA, is Regional Director for Horizons International, in Beirut, Lebanon.
Pierre is a Lebanese-American who grew up in the context of cross-cultural ministry among Muslims and international students. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, and is fluent in English and Arabic. He has been in full-time ministry with Horizons International since 2006, and has been an active member of Horizons’ teaching staff and curriculum development team since 2002. Pierre is also co-editor of “Engaging Islam” (Georges Houssney, Treeline Publishing, Boulder, Co 2010).
As a key part of Horizons' teaching staff, he trains Arab and Western Christians for effective ministry to Muslims, and is active in missiological advocacy among the global missions community. Pierre is a team player, and loves to see new leaders thrive and work together to glorify God. He is well-connected to Lebanese churches and those who minister to Muslims in the Middle East.
Pierre lives in Beirut, Lebanon, with his wife, Gigi, and their two children, where he leads a team of nationals and missionaries who run a center for evangelism and discipleship among Muslims.
He will be sharing stories of how God is working among Syrian refugees through Lebanese churches and how Muslims are finding Jesus.
