11/11: Candlelight Vigil @ Madrona Grace PC

  • Seattle Presbytery 1013 8th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98104 United States (map)

Neighbors and community are invited to join members of Madrona Grace Presbyterian Church Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. for a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of Fidel Urrutia and pray for healing of Christian Urrutia.

On Nov. 7, after weeks painting and beautifying the exterior of the church, the father and son contractors were moving a ladder when they lost control in the wind and the ladder hit a power line. Fidel died on the scene; Christian is on life support at Harborview Medical Center.

There are no words to express our sadness for the loss of Fidel and the obstacles to the recovery of Christian, both well known in the Madrona neighborhood for their craftsmanship, cheerfulness and dedication to their work.

This will be time for us to come together, to grieve and surround their families with gratitude for the gift of their loved ones amongst us. We will gather outside the church at 32nd and Marion under the church tower. Please help keep each other safe by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

As we continue to pray for Christian, Madrona Grace Presbyterian Church is accepting funds to help both families in this time of deep loss.

To donate, visit the Madrona Grace website at madronagrace.org (select "Donate") or send a check to the church at 832 32nd Ave, Seattle WA 98122 designated "Memorial Fund". May our gifts remind the families of the community's care for them.

Those who are unable to attend the vigil in person are invited to join in prayer from wherever you are.
