Interim Pastor - United Churches of Olympia

Seattle Presbytery

The United Churches of Olympia (TUCO) is seeking an interim pastor to serve approximately six to nine months, starting in April 2015.

The church is located in the capital city of Washington, across the street from the Capitol Campus.  This is not a neighborhood church, but draws members from the greater county.  The Congregation is social-justice oriented and is made up of independent thinkers.    The Congregation is unique in the solid contributions and significant representation of the many members who live at Panorama City, a local retirement community.   In addition, the Congregation has a large number of retired pastors as active members.  The Congregation is a Federated body, representing two denominations.  The Congregation’s recent growth has been from UCC members, but the Congregation as a whole does not draw lines, and one cannot tell a Presbyterian from a UCC member on the vast majority of issues.  Open and affirming is a strong value for a predominant portion of the congregation and the rainbow flag has hung on the outside of our church.  Open and affirming has come to be a key value and the reason many people, regardless of sexual orientation, come to and stay at this church.
