Pastors and church leaders are invited to a workshop with Dr. Ronald W. Richardson hosted by Seattle Presbytery.
We are all aware of the special challenges of being a congregational leader in these times. The peace and unity that may once have existed in our churches is seriously damaged. Our life as leaders may be more chaotic and unsatisfying. Family systems theory puts the intensity of congregational life into a context that both allows us to be both more relaxed, more effective, and to clarify what we are responsible for and not responsible for. In the busyness and daily crises of being leaders and care-givers, we can lose the bigger picture of the mission and ministry of the church. This one-day workshop will help you refresh your vision of how you want to function as a leader in the emotional system of your congregation.
Ron Richardson is an accredited pastoral counselor (Diplomate, retired) in AAPC, and a marriage and family therapist (and until retirement Supervisor) in AAMFT. He was the Executive Director of a large, metropolitan-wide counseling agency in Vancouver, Canada. He is the author of many books on the application of Bowen family system theory to the life of the church including: Creating a Healthier Church, Becoming a Healthier Pastor, and Polarization and the Healthier Church.
