“Washington’s Department of Health recently issued a warning of rising rates of suicide and suicidal thinking in the coming months, as a result of the COVID-19 related challenges many Washingtonians are experiencing. Scientists have studied natural disasters for decades, and this sort of rise is a predictable effect of the pandemic. Because of COVID-19, all of us are at greater risk of loneliness, anxiety, depression and suicide, but some people may be more vulnerable because of their age, race, sexual orientation, gender or job. ”
Please join us on Monday, December 14 from 10 am – 11:30 am for a specially commissioned virtual training webinar from the University of Washington’s Forefront Suicide Prevention Center.
This webinar is organized by St. Andrew and sponsored by Seattle Presbytery, so that this critical information can reach all member churches in the greater Seattle area at no charge. Although there will be opportunities to view a recording of the session later, for maximum benefit you’re encouraged to attend the live Zoom session where the instructor will follow her 60-minute structured presentation with 30 minutes of open Q&A/discussion. All are welcome.
