VIRTUAL TRIP SCHEDULE

Colombia Partnership Virtual Event.jpg

Monday, March 15, 5pm PST: An Artistic Welcome! Join us for this opening event for an opportunity to get to know one another “open mic style”. Participate as an audience member only or prepare a song, poem, or short reading (this can be original work or your interpretation of someone else’s song, poem, or short reading) to share related to your own or your community’s experience of the pandemic. Each person sharing a piece will have 3-5 minutes. Feel free to present in English or Spanish; translation will be provided if needed.

For partner churches: Please invite and get a commitment from at least one person in your community willing to share a song, poem, or short reading.

Wednesday, March 17, 5pm PST: Panel Discussion on the Post-Pandemic Shape of Ecclesiology. Just us for a panel discussion on how COVID-19 has reframed and redefined understandings of being the church and how those new understandings will live on in the “new normal” of the post-pandemic future. The Rev. Eliana Maxim will moderate a discussion with four pastors who reflect academic and pastoral perspectives from Colombian and US contexts.
Presbytery of the North Coast: Rev. Dr. Adelaida Jimenez (pastor and theologian) and Rev. Cesar Carhuachin, PC(USA) mission co-worker
Seattle Presbytery: Rev. Dr. Susie Beil (pastor and counselor) and Rev. Dr. J.P. Kang (pastor and seminary professor)

Saturday, March 20, 5pm PST: Young Adult Eco-Theology Round Table: Young adults (generously defined as under the age of 40!) are invited to engage in a binational discussion of climate change, faith, and theological frames for activism.

Sunday, March 21, 9am PST: Binational Closing Worship Service: All members of Seattle Presbytery are invited to join us for the joint worship service that will celebrate the gift of our partnership and feature musical offerings of children from both of our presbyteries. Churches may choose to make this service a replacement for your regular Sunday worship on March 21 or you might decide that double the worship is twice even better!

Sister Church Events: Some of our churches in Seattle Presbytery have taken the step of formalizing a church-to-church partnership with a sister church from the Presbytery of the Coast. Each pair of churches will convene a special event for its own church members during the week of the virtual trip. Churches that aren’t yet a part of a church-to-church partnership but wish to learn more are welcome to attend one of these events to experience a small part of what church-to-church partnerships are all about. Contact Eliana for more information

Joining in one or all of these events is easy, just click on the Zoom link. Contact EJ Lee if you need further assistance.
