Interim Choir Dir. - Lake City PC

Seattle Presbytery

A. The choir director will rehearse and direct the LCPC choir as they lead the congregation in worship. Rehearsals are normally on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30PM, and Sundays at 9:15AM, with worship at 10AM.

B. Choral anthems shall be sung under the direction of the choir director at worship services three Sundays each month, from two weeks after Labor Day through Father’s Day. On other Sundays, arrangements for special music from soloists or other musicians shall be made by choir director.

C. The choir director shall select all choral anthems to be sung by the choir. Music shall be appropriate for a Presbyterian worship service and, if possible, support the sermon theme. Music selections shall be given to the accompanist and choir 4-6 weeks in advance of their rehearsal and performance by the choir.

D. The director will be responsible for helping the choir to perform to the very best of their ability, including appearance, sound and delivery. Recruitment of new choir members is always welcome.

E. Choir learns three new pieces to perform with other choirs, and performs two already-familiar pieces for the annual North Helpline Benefit Concert on the first Sunday in November, and presents expanded music programs twice a year during Sunday worship, once during Advent and again on Easter. Arrangements for special soloists, accompanists or instrumentalists will be made by the choir director.

F. The choir director shall work primarily with our existing music library, but may also purchase music and music supplies for the choir program. All expenditures shall be under the budgetary control of the Worship Committee.

G. The choir director shall give advice and assistance whenever requested by the Pastor.

H. Choir director shall attend monthly Worship Committee meetings, normally after worship on the last Sunday of the month for 1.5 hours, to facilitate communication and planning.

Managing Dir. - Capitol Hill PC

Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church Manager (PT)

Purpose: assist the church leadership in overseeing and managing the implementation of the strategic vision for the church. In particular assisting in the administration of our church including:

·      Strategic communication

o   Oversee the production of our regular church communications, including the Bulletin, Weekly Enews.

o   Prompt ministry teams to keep up clear and multi-channeled communications, i.e., they are using 4-5 methods of communications.

o   Look for consistent messaging of our church’s yearly goals as determined by session.

o   Quarterly newsletter that goes out with financial statements           

§  Work with pastor on what information to include in his letter.

·      Work with our Ministry Teams:

o   Train new ministry team leads in leading their teams.

o   Put together the September and March Ministry Team goal producing workshops.

§  Overseeing ministry teams SMART goals produced at those workshops.

o   Finance

§  Contact the finance chair every August to make sure they are on track for the fall budget construction.

o   Personnel

§  Contact the chair every august to make sure they are on track for the fall staff reviews.

§  Review Pastor’s terms of call.

§  Work with paid staff to be accountable to yearly goals,

§  Keep track of weekly hours, tangible follow through with goals.

o    Facilities

§  Keep all computer in good repair, updating, replacing hardware and software as needed. (consult our computer tech as necessary)

§  Oversee Caretaker and Custodial staff.

§  Oversee all facility maintenance

·      Hire/manage all subcontractors

·      Manage volunteers.

§  Sound and lighting and projection systems

·      Make sure all sound, lighting and audio equipment is in good repair. (consult worship director and AV tech as necessary)

§  Liaison with all tenants

·      Write up all MOUs and keep them current.

·      Semi-annual meetings with all Church tenants.

·      Work with our Session and Pastor

o   Work with Clerk to keep ministry manual up to date.

o   Work with Clerk and Pastor to send in yearly statistics.

o   Assist Pastor in producing the presentation at the annual congregational meeting.

o   Work with Session to accomplish the ASP SMART goals.

§  Communication—everyone uses at least 4 out of 8 available communication media.

§  75% of member rolls serving on ministry teams by March 2016

§  Have a plan for what to do with the building/facilities by July 1, 2017

§  By Pentecost 2016 have 10 mentors trained and graduated.

§  By 2020 have 25 active enrolled youth (6th-12th grade) and 45 active and enrolled children (3rd-5th grade).

 Future Seismic Upgrade

·      Support Renovations Task Force

·      Liaison with contractor and the congregation/ session/ pastor.

·      Oversee fundraising and fund disbursement.

Choir Dir. - Northminster PC

Northminster Presbyterian Church -- a joyful congregation in Seattle, Washington, with a vibrant, diverse worship/liturgy and music culture, a strong choral tradition,  a singing congregation, and a musically receptive pastor -- seeks a dynamic, personable, creative Choir Director with proficient musical, personal, and organizational skills.  We desire an individual who will cultivate the musical talent within our congregation, and further diversify our music program to appeal to a broad spectrum of ages, cultural heritages, and styles.  
 
Our choir year runs from September-June, during which the Choir Director’s time commitment averages around 10 hours per week.  During July/August, the Choir Director’s responsibilities and associated time commitment are substantially reduced.   We are aiming for a start date of January 1, 2016.  Salary:  $12,000/year.  While we will accept applications until the job is filled, first preference will be given to applications received on or before November 6, 2015.

Title:  Children and Family Ministries Director

Job Summary:  

To direct all Children’s and Family Ministries (CFM) for Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church (CHP).  The Director’s job includes recruiting, hiring, training, managing and pastoring childcare workers (4-10), volunteers (50) and CFM committee members (5-10).  Overseeing Sunday Kids’ Church and Kid City programs, regular family events, kids camps, and childcare for other church programs.

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                     A person of Christian faith who lives in full agreement with the CHP Statement of Faith (see FAQ, What Do We Believe on http://www.chpseattle.org/).

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3-10 years’ combined volunteer or professional ministry experience, with at least 2-3 years in ministry leadership.  2 years Christian education and kids programming experience (e.g.,  adult education and discipleship, Sunday school, camps, recreation, scouting, etc.).
  • Flexible, gracious and good-humored, seasoned in ministry and character and adaptable to unforeseen changes.  Able to encourage, lead and pastor others in stressful situations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to catalyze, recruit, motivate and mobilize the church community to passion for children and family ministry, excellence in programming, joy in ministry and growth in vision and outreach.
  • Strong management skills, including visioning, strategic planning, project and program management, event planning, staff and volunteer management, and pastoral care.
  • Able to spend most hours working independently while building and sustaining vision and passion for a thriving children’s program and its potential to reach the neighborhood, grow the church and be an integral, energizing component of the church’s mission

Primary Responsibilities:               

·      Arrive 15 minutes before service or event time to prepare classroom
